Meeting called to order at 5:58 by Sue Smuda

 

Roll Call:  Cathi Legg, Susan Smuda, Teri Baughman, Patti Hill, Kathy Bell, Kim Dixon, Adriann Mischel, Angel Romero, Kevin McFarlane

 

Report of the topics / items discussed during the Presidents conference call with the National Office by Sue Smuda:

  • JACHO is challenging / questioning the use of standing orders before the patients have been seen by a Physician.
  • There is a group looking at human trafficking. They are identifying signs and symptoms ER’s should be watched for. Training will be developed to identify individuals that are a part of this.
  • There is a Resource Specialist program starting. National has put out a call for all those interested in the program to go to the National ENA web site and look under the spot light heading.
  • A questions was raised that will be addressed at the National General Assembly by the Marketing Group:
    • Should States have their own logo, or should they keep only the National logo?
      • Discussion followed.
        • ~ Motion by Angel: The individual states use the National Emblem but may add on to it with the state recognized icon.
        • ~ Second by Teri B.
          • * Motion passed unanimously. Voting at the General Assembly will reflect this.
  • At the general Assembly, all delegates must register ahead of time in order to obtain their swipe card. The swipe card will be needed to receive a voting box.
  • There will be both Pro and Con microphone during general assembly. Be observant of which one you desire to use.
  • Student Scholarships no longer require a Dean’s signature
  • The ENA Foundation Challenge has reached 114% of the identified goal of $33756.00.
  • TNCC: The provider manual has been completed and the trainer manual should be completed by October 1, 2007. After both are completed the retraining of all instructors will follow.

 

Further information from Sue:

  • National is suggesting several bylaw changes. The delegates need information from the general New Mexico ENA membership as to how they would like the delegates to represent their feelings.
    • Discussion followed
      • ~ Motion by Teri that the changes being considered are sent to all of the New Mexico Members requesting a response via e mail to Sue.
      • ~ Second by Patty Hill
        • * Motion passed unanimously
  • Congratulations to Teri and Kevin on the very successful CEN review! Review of the evaluations that were turned in focused primarily on the temperature of the room. Recommendations for future seminars included having people who register the day of the event be required to pay the full rate.
  • The call for nominations for the will go out next week with a 2 week deadline. The ballots will be sent out the 3rd week in September.
  • Kevin Discussed the State EMS Conference. There was further discussion about having a pre-conference track for nursing related Trauma Challenges. This will be proposed to the State with the request that they sponsor it. The conference in currently scheduled for the last weekend in July at the Rio Grande Sheraton.
  • The September Meeting has been canceled. A notice will be sent to all members.
