Meeting called to order at 5:45 pm at the Sheraton Uptown in Albuquerque by Sue Smuda
Attendance – Diane Cassell, Patti Hill, Susan Smuda, Kim Dixon, Kathy Bell, Adriann Mischel, Teri Baughman, Jean Gomez, Gigi Smith, Beth Cassell

Strategic Plan
-Sue, Adriann, Cathi and Teri discussed a strategic plan at the leadership conference. It is recommended by National that each state council have a strategic plan each year. Cathi wrote it down and will type it up to send out to the membership for input. We will review and revise as needed at the next meeting.
TNCC Revision Rollout
- National ENA will be providing 3 sessions this summer to teach the new revisions to TNCC. NM has been allotted 4 spots. Diane Cassell, Sue Smuda, Terry Fuhs, and Jennifer Ellis will be going to Chicago for the sessions. These individuals will then come back and teach the revisions to the rest of the instructors throughout the state. Dates for the NM instructor classes to be announced.
- Funding will be provided to the State Council to pay for travel to Chicago for the 4 spots.
- Diane Cassell will create a proposed budget for the rollout costs related to the NM instructor classes and submit for approval
- Diane made a motion that the state council provide the new instructor manuals to the TNCC instructors throughout the state, Adriann seconded, motion passed.
- Diane Cassell and Sue Smuda will explore the possibility of NM ENA sponsoring a TNCC provider class this fall
National ENA elections
- Be on the lookout for the April ENA Connection. Candidate Bios will be published.
Nursing Excellence Award
-Diane Cassell asked if we wanted to sponsor the Emergency Nursing Excellence award at the NM Center for Nursing Excellence awards again this year. NM ENA has sponsored this category for the last 2 years. Adriann made a motion to sponsor award and Diane seconded, motion passed.
-Teri will bring the checkbook to the next meeting and write the check.
Emergency Nursing Manager Lunch
-Sue Smuda proposed sponsoring a lunch for Emergency Nursing managers throughout the state and asking Nancy Bonalumi, National Immediate Past President and NM ENA National liaison to come and speak. Sue will proceed to plan event. Discussion was to have event around a state meeting and have Nancy attend meeting as well.
CEN Review
-Teri Baughman reported that there is no available space to hold a two day conference in October or November. Teri has been in discussion with Kevin McFarland with CNM to provide the review in conjunction with CNM. Teri and Kevin are discussing August as possible dates. Kevin is investigating the possibility of using the workforce training center as a possible venue.
- Discussion about the possibility of offering an ENA membership discount and/or a group discount. Teri will look into the possibility.
Nuts & Bolts Conference
-Teri Baughman reported registrations are up to 30.
- Menus for the am snacks and pm snacks discussed and agreed upon
- Teri will pick speaker Jeff Solhiem up at the airport. Teri asked if NM ENA wanted to take him out to dinner on Wednesday night like we did for the speaker last year. Motion made by Adriann to take him out to dinner and NM ENA to pay for the dinner, seconded by Diane Cassell. NM ENA officers Sue Smuda, Adriann Mischel and Teri Baughman to attend dinner with Jeff.
Next ENA Meeting is March 28, 2007 at the Sheraton Uptown. Social time at 5:30pm, Meeting starts at 6:00pm
~ Motion by Kathy Bell that the meeting be adjourned at 6:30pm for speaker presentation.

Presentation by Odyssey Healthcare of Albuquerque on Hospice care, how to refer patients to them and how to keep their patients out of the ED.
