New Business:
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Discussion deferred until August meeting
  • Jewelry Silent Auction @ National Scientific Assembly:
    •  During Scientific Assembly there is a silent auction. This year each State Chapter is being asked to donate a piece of jewelry that has a value of at least $100.00. The donated piece should be representative of the culture and gem or stones that are indigenous to the state. Last year we participated in this event with a donation. The question was raised as to whether the State wanted to participate again this year.
    • Discussion of pro’s and con’s with ideas presented followed.
~ Motion by Cathi Legg that NM ENA purchases one or more pieces of jewelry with a value of $100.00 to be donated to the silent auction.
~ Second by Teri Baughman
* Motion passed unanimously
  • Sue reported on an ENA Pain Task Force conference call that she was a part of this past week. The Task Force is paired with APR (American Pain Registry.) The objective is to look at improving the treatment of pain in the ER. Treatment of long bone pain will become a quality Benchmark Indicator in the future. The Task force is multi-disciplinary with representatives from Academia, Research, Nursing, etc.
  • Kathy Bell reviewed the ENA meeting dates with the group in regards to arranging for future guest speakers.
    • August 22nd meeting will be immediately after the CEN Review Conference (August 17th and 18th.)
    • September 26th meeting is during General Assembly at National Confrence.
    • Patty identified that she has a potential Guest Speaker for the October Meeting, and Cathi Legg may have a potential Guest Speaker for the August meeting.
    • Discussion followed concerning canceling September and / or the August meetings.
~ Motion by Patty that the September 26th meeting be canceled
~ Second by Adriann
  • Motion passed unanimously
  • General Assembly Delegate applications were identified.
    • There are currently 6 applications for the position of NM State Delegate to the General Assembly.
    • NM ENA may have 5 delegates and 2 alternates.
    • Cathi volunteered to be the Alternate Delegate with the question as to the ability to attend a pre-session if she was not needed as a delegate.
    • Discussion followed. Result of discussion is that an alternate delegate may attend a pre-session with the understanding that the first responsibility is as a delegate should the need arise. Further agreement by all is that if a pre-session is paid for, and missed as the alternate is called to the delegate role, the cost of the pre-session would not be paid for by NM ENA, and the pre-session fee would be forfeited.
~ Motion by Patty that Cathi be the Alternate Delegate
~ Second by Kathy B.
