Post Katrina Legislation

Kathy Bell reported that NM has a Legislative bill to do a fiscal impact report - House Bill 71 – Healthcare Professional Disaster Response.  There will be a three year study conducted to look into this issue.  The people involved are from the UNM School of Law, UNM School of Medicine, NM Healthcare Association, NM DOH, and HSEMD, Health Professional Licensing Boards, and people involved in Bioethics.   

Kathy to contact Sarah Campbell, who is the ENA Government Affairs Chairperson to inquire if any information or input is needed from ENA.

Injury Prevention Update

In first Quarter 2009 228 youths went through a Modified Choices Program.  84 youths attended in April.  Cathy has contacted the AYUDA Program to do a presentation for the National Guard, CSO to do Injury Prevention for officers at accidents, bicycle safety in the south sector, and has contacted the Jose Munoz with Bernalillo County with work with gangs on drug and alcohol education at gang interventions. 

Cathy is awaiting a response from the people she has contact.

NM ACEP Scholarship Application Development Update

A letter was sent to ACEP in support of this project back in February.    No response has been received.

Records Retention Efforts

A meeting has been set for Saturday, April 25^th to review all old documents and decide which ones need to be electronically kept.

We have not received a telephone number to put out to the membership for a conference call in May.    Three of the Board Members will be out of town in May.

Cancel May meeting because a majority of Board Members will not be in town.
