Legal Immunity for HCW during Disasters.

Kevin

Kevin’s research into this process revealed that the legislation ailed due to ambiguous language.  He has sent the documents to Dr. Laura Banks, Medical Director for disaster Medicine for New Mexico.  She has agreed to review against the Federal tort claim act covering volunteerism.

No action until this opinion is obtained.

Discuss at the next business meeting.

IOM Future of Nursing Report Update: Kevin

Kevin provided a detailed report on this issue.  The goals are an equal voice for nursing at the table for healthcare decision-making.  A national ENA workgroup has been formed to participate.  The goals of this project are:

1. Strategic collaborative planning
2. Strategic communications
3. Funding for nursing education

General Assembly Bylaw amendments & Resolutions: All

The bylaw amendment proposals and resolutions are available on the ENa website.  All delegates should read them in detail before general assembly.  Delegate training on-line will be required of all delegates.  An e-mail with available times and dates will be sent to each delegate. 

Expected delegate behaviors have been described and distributed as well.

Adriann will distribute the link for the bylaw amendments and resulutions to the assigned delegates.

Committee Report: Call for nominations report: Kevin

TNCC/ENPC: NO additional classes have been reported other than those arranged by the committee chairs.  Course directors currently are  Candi Miller, Mary Eichorn, Susan Harrison-Salt and Terry Fuhs.

Elections/Nominations:

We will need to notify the national office of the officers by October 31

Diane and Kevin will work on a communication to the course directors.

A call for nominations will be sent asap. Ballots to be returned by October 15, Returns by Sept 1.
