Legal Immunity for HCW during Disasters.

 

 

 

Documents were sent to Dr. Laura Banks, Medical Director for Disaster Medicine, UNM.  She will review and compare to the Federal tort claim act covering volunteerism.

General Assembly delegation and stipend

 

It is required that all delegates review the delegate packet posted on the ENA.org website and complete the delegate training.  Delegate behavioral expectations were discussed.

Adriann will distribute link to the delegate packets.  Each delegate received a link to the training module via e-mail 

 

 

3.

IOM Future of Nursing Report

Kevin presented a summary of the activities regarding this report and the support provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  A National ENA workgroup participated in a discussion of the role of Nursing in Healthcare with the goal of an equal voice at the table for healthcare decision making. 

Goals of the project:

  1. Strategic Collaboration & communication
  2. Funding for nursing education
  3. Support for national certification
  4. GN residency programs.
  5. Promotion of higher education for nursesi

Kevin will distribute documents.

Governmant Affairs

 

There have been no additional classes reported other than those arranged by the committee chair.  Current course directors are Candi Miller, Mary Eichorn, Susan Harison-Salt and Terry Fuhs. 

 

A call for nominations will be distributed with the ballot to be distributed by September 1; Ballots returned by October 15; Notification deadline of officers to National October 31.

2.    

Educational Session October 2011

WE will offer a presentation by David Waymier, who is an attorney with the District Attorney’s office.  He will present : Workplace Violence: What happens after the police report.  

It was recommended that we offer snacks and drinks for this presentation as well.  Nursing CE credit will be requested.

Kevin will explore the possibility of using the UNM training website and report.
