Meeting Minutes:  February 23, 2011

1.

NMENA Bylaw Status Update - Teri

 

Teri sent the final draft to the NM BOD who approved the changes.  The next step is to send to Jason Moritz, ENA National Board Liaison for review.    

It was recommended that the draft be sent to the membership for comment. 

Once we have received final responses. The draft will be sent to National ENA for approval.

The final approved document will be posted to NMENA.com when we receive final approval. 

2.

Legal Immunity for HCW during Disasters.

 

 

 

Based on feed back after last month’s presentation there was some discussion regarding next steps. For NMENA.   

Kevin will contact Dr. Laura Banks of the NM Cenetr for Disaster Management to determine what is in place for DMAT nationally

Kevin will report back at the July meeting

Further discussion at the July meeting.

3.

General Assembly delegation and stipend

 

NMENA was awarded 6 delegates and 1 alternate. Bylaws automatically include the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President and Treasurer.

4 Delegate applications were received

Stipend will be $1400 per attendee. 

Delegation for ENA 2011 are  Kevin McFarlane, Teri Baughman, Cathi Legg, Patti Hill,  Candi Miller, Alternate: Hemant Sule

Kevin will submit the delegate report to National ENA. Each Delegate will receive an e-mail notification from Kevin with attached SOP regarding Stipend.

 

     NEW BUSINESS

1.

IOM Future of Nursing Report

This discussion was tabled until the July meeting due to Time constraint.  However we did receive an update from Kathy Bell as a suggestion to broaden the Emergency Nursing Excellence award nominations to generate interest prior to National Emergency Nurse’s week.

The notation on the website will be edited to include a 1 year ENSA membership in addition to the gift certificate already offered. 

This information will be updated on the website.  Kevin will distribute this information to all NM ED managers.

Follow-up report July meeting.

2.    

Educational Session October 2011

WE will offer a presentation by David Waymier, who is an attorney with the District Attorney’s office.  He will present : Workplace Violence: What happens after the police report.  

It was recommended that we offer snacks and drinks for this presentation as well.  Nursing CE credit will be requested.

ADriann Weill prepare a flier for distribution to the membership and for posting in ED’s
